The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) today became the first in the country to go ‘paperless’ with the introduction of National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) programme.

Making a statement on NeVA programme on the first day of the 11th session of 13th NLA, Speaker Sharingain Longkumer said “Nagaland Legislative Assembly is the first in the country to have reached this important milestone of operationalising the NeVA system.”

With this today’s assembly session was conducted with the help of tablets or e-books which were loaded with the NeVA Application and placed on the tables of each member of the house.

This is the medium through which we will be using this application in our Assembly in pursuit to the paperless assembly, Longkumer said.

He informed that NeVA system has been a continuous effort initiated during the time of former Speaker Dr Chotisuh Sazo.

NeVA is a project, funded by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India with 10% state share extended by the Chief Minister.

The Speaker informed that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has extended its gratitude to NLA for being the first in the country to operationalise NeVA system.

Longkumer also thanked the implementing agency, the SBL Knowledge Services and NLA Assembly Secretariat for the speed, efficiency and the commitment with which they have operationalised it.
