NMA not to attend Prohibition meet

Dimapur, July 1 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association today said it has decided against attending the scheduled July 2 consultations called by the state government to discuss the Prohibition.

A letter addressed to the “ministers (Home/Forest & Excise)” from the NMA leaders said the Naga Mothers’ Association has resolved not to attend the consultative meeting on the prohibition policy as the church organizations have not been included.

“The NMA has resolved that as the NBCC has spearheaded the prohibition in Nagaland, it is of utmost importance to have a consultation, inclusive of representatives of the church. Therefore, while appreciating the concern of the government, we request another date be fixed for a consultative meeting which will include the church organizations, so that a wider opinion is shared on the prohibition policy in the state,” the NMA added.
