NNC Rengma region observes 75th Foundation Day

Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): The Rengma Region NNC/ FGN commemorated the 75th year of the formation of NNC on  February 2 at T Zisunyu village, Rengma Region with Akho Mero, Homaki Kilonser FGN, as chief guest. 

A short programme was held where the 'Kechaka' Memorial Monolith stone was unveiled by the chief guest with a prayer by Rev Senlo Kent, a press release from the Media Cell, Rengma Regional Council NNC, stated on Wednesday.

As per the release, the program commenced with a welcome note which was delivered by Logvubu Nsu, Midan Penyu Rengma Region FGN, followed by an opening prayer pronounced by Rev Haiwalo Apon, ES CRBC Zunpha. Kegwanye Kent, NNC President, Rengma Region, delivered a short message on the Naga National movement in the Rengma Region, it added.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Akho Mero stressed on the need for a self reliant Naga society and that the Naga people must free themselves from the shackles of corruption in order to fully realise their aspiration of a sovereign independent nation. He further added that the younger generation must continue to carry forth the legacy and the aspiration of the Naga people, the release stated. 

A souvenir of the Rengma Regional Council was also released by the chief guest during the programme which witnessed special songs by the Women Group T Zisunyu village and Naga Army Rengma Region.

Others who spoke during the event included Presidents of various Rengma organisations such as Rengma Mothers' Association, Rengma Students' Union, GB's Association, Chairman Forum and Rengma Selo Zi. Former President Rengma Regional Council NNC, Sinbu Khing acknowledged the presence of few distinguished guests and special invitees by giving away tokens of appreciation, the release stated.
