The Minister of State in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) Shripad Naik on Wednesday said that the Ministry has no plans to construct any new airfield in Nagaland.
The Minister was responding to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha by Nagaland MP Tokheho Yepthomi.
The MP queried whether the Government has any proposal to construct an air strip in Nagaland; and if so, total acres of land purchased for it and the total amount spent for purchase of land so far.
“MoD has no plans to construct any new airfield in Nagaland,” the reply on March 10 read.
Meanwhile, the Minister also informed that, “No formation/unit has been withdrawn from North-Eastern States during 2020-21,” in response to the MP’s question on whether the Government has withdrawn armed forces from North Eastern States during 2020-21.
“In view of the security situation in the North-East region, re-alignment of operational role of some Army units has been carried out,” Naik added.
