The Pochury Women Organisation Kohima (PWOK) today held its 33rd General Conference at the Capital Convention Centre here under the theme “Threads of Time.”
Addressing the first session as special guest, Joy Thusi Fithu, Commandant, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion, said the threads of time are fragile yet strong. “It can be easily broken, but can be woven together to create something beautiful and meaningful. It is not the threads of time that define us, but how we weave the tapestry with love, kindness and compassion, strong, vibrant and progressive,” she said.
Stating that no society prospers without vision, Fithu urged the Pochury women to nurture good habits, set targets, and contribute to the development of society. She added that efforts to uplift society should not compromise culture, heritage, and faith.
Describing PWOK as a progressive organisation, she called upon the Pochury women in Kohima to be torchbearers and trendsetters for the community. She emphasised the importance of imbibing qualities like compassion, love, forgiveness, honesty, kindness, resilience, humility, and patience. Fithu also stressed unity, mutual empowerment, and reconciliation over unresolved issues.
“Pochury women have come a long way along with the rest of Naga society and confidently stepped into the 21st century. To lead our society forward, we must be hardworking, disciplined, sincere, punctual, committed and dedicated. Be responsible citizens,” she said.
Fithu highlighted the pivotal role of women, citing their power, gracefulness, wisdom, creativity, intuition, patience, emotional strength, and networking ability. She urged them to be compassionate, confident, helpful, and to avoid negative traits like jealousy, gossip, hatred, revenge, selfishness, and maliciousness, which hamper community progress.
She further stressed the need to cultivate a healthy, positive and optimistic attitude, and adapt to changing times while preserving rich cultural traditions.
