Chümoukedima, January 3 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) reiterated its resolution to boycott elections. A press statement from the ENPO informed that the decision to boycott was reaffirmed at an emergency meeting on January 3 held in Chümoukedima. It said that the seven affiliates of the organisation resolved to stand by the resolution adopted on August 26, which was further reaffirmed on November 16 and December 19. The resolution reads, “The people of Eastern Nagaland shall not participate in any election process of the state and the centre until and unless a separate statehood ‘Frontier Nagaland’ is fulfilled as demanded by the people of Eastern Nagaland through the grassroot.”
While it acknowledged Home Minister, Amit Shah and the Central Committee constituted to study the statehood demand, headed by AK Mishra, “for their sincerity in taking up the issue with utmost urgency,” the ENPO said that it was confident the Government of India will fulfill the aspiration of the people of eastern Nagaland without further delay.
