Noklak imposes total ban on single use plastics

Noklak, March 20 (MExN): SDO(C) and Administrator, Noklak Town Council, C Phuniang has issued a notification for imposing a total ban on all single use plastic in Noklak district. The notification is issued with the view to eradicate the menace of plastic and the serious environment and ecological challenges posed by rampant use of plastic.
According to the notification which was issued through the state DIPR, the following single-use plastic products have been totally banned in the district: All plastic carry bags with or without handles, irrespective of thickness and size; Plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cup, straws, stirrers etc; Cutlery and other decorative made of Styrofoam (thermocol); Polythene; Nylon; Poly-Vinyl Chlorides (PVC); Poly-Propylene, and Poly-Styrene.
The notification stated that single use plastics, often referred to as disposable plastics (use and throw items), are commonly used for plastics packaging and include items intended to used only once before they are thrown away or recycled. These include, among other items, carry bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, containers, cups and cutlery.
Further, the Administrator cautioned individuals, institutions/commercial establishments (educational institutions, office, hotels, shops, restaurants, religious institutions, industrial establishments, banquet halls etc.) that do not abide with the total ban would be held liable for penalties.
