Northeast Frontier Railway records 1.033 MT freight loading in May

Maligaon, June 12 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recorded a freight loading of 1.033 million tonnes (MT) during May 2026, reflecting steady growth in the transportation of essential commodities across the region.

According to an official statement, cement loading registered an exceptional growth of 231.3 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year, while dolomite loading increased by 31.1 per cent and petroleum oil and lubricant (POL) loading rose by 12.5 per cent.

The railway also reported a 142.9 per cent increase in bamboo loading under the "Others" category, indicating higher movement of construction-related and allied materials across the Northeast.

NFR said the sustained increase in freight loading reflects expanding economic and industrial activities in the region and has strengthened the regional supply chain while contributing significantly to the railway's revenue earnings.

The railway added that it will continue to focus on technological advancements, operational efficiency and customer-centric freight services to ensure reliable transportation and sustained growth in freight movement in the coming months.
