DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has accused the BJP of “bribery” in the run up to the bye-election for the Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency. A press release from the NPCC President, K Therie alleged that “wine and bribing have been found practiced all over the constituency by BJP.” “Pungro Village Students Union has captured 24 bottles of IMFL and Rs 6,00,500 in cash during frisking. At Phelungre, Rs 5 lakh was allegedly paid by BJP Candidate to declare in his favour. It is also alleged that BJP is paying a hefty sum to each household as ‘first phase’,” the NPCC President alleged. Terming this as “just the tip of the iceberg,” the NPCC alleged that the BJP has “no conscious vote” and “therefore, have to bribe every voter.” “They have no manifesto, programs or issues. They do not talk of development programs neither of social discipline. They cannot even repair the roads and yet, they are asking for votes,” the Congress claimed.
