DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed concern at the said that Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index for 2023-2024, placing Nagaland among the worst-performing states in the country.
The report was released by Niti Aayog, the public policy think tank of the Government of India. The index evaluates each state's socio-economic and environmental performance. In response to the ranking, a press release from the NPCC criticized the current NDPP-BJP government in the state. The NPCC viewed the ranking as a substantial vote of no confidence from the central government and a clear vindication of their persistent claims regarding the failure and corruption of the NDPP-BJP administration.
"This is a massive vote of no confidence from the central government," stated the NPCC in their press release. "It clearly vindicates our party's constant assertions about the utter failure of the corruption-ridden NDPP-BJP government."
The NPCC also criticized the President of the NDPP for attributing their candidate's recent electoral defeat in the General Elections to national and international issues. This explanation, provided just a day after the publication of the SDG Index, was described by the NPCC as perplexing and indicative of the NDPP's diversionary tactics.
"NDPP blaming the Central Government, which is led by its alliance partner BJP, is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black," the NPCC stated. They accused the NDPP of employing deceitful strategies at the expense of the state's common people, highlighting the irony and cruelty of the situation.
The NPCC called on the government to address its failings promptly. "The people of Nagaland deserve better. The sooner the government mends its ways, the better it will be for the people and for themselves. As the saying goes, you can't fool all the people all the time," it stated.
