DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has condemned the incidents and prevalence of lawlessness in the State, especially in Dimapur. Within a short span of few days, incidents of criminal activities have taken place in quick successions, stated a press note from the media cell while adding that tension was mounting everyday along the Assam-Nagaland border and that Dimapur town has become the hot-bed for all criminal activities. “It has become unlivable”.
‘HM is helpless, remote-controlled by outside forces’
The Opposition Congress stated that the NPF government has miserably failed to protect the lives and properties of the citizens and that the Home Minister was “helpless”. “He has run out of ideas to tackle the menace of criminal activities. The people of Nagaland can’t expect much from a person who is remote-controlled by outside forces”, the NPCC stated while adding that the failure to nab the culprits in the assassination attempt of Mrs. Imtila was a glaring proof of his helplessness. “Announcing reward of Rs. 1 lakh for the head of the criminal was the greatest practical joke on the public”.
Stating that the complete breakdown of law and order in Dimapur is not an administrative failure or inefficiency of law enforcement agencies, the NPCC pointed out that this was a “political failure” and added that the Home Minister was “thoroughly incompetent”. “Condemning the act of crimes or the perpetrators alone will not improve the situation. It is meaningless to demand justice from a government that has no political will and mechanism to control the crimes”, the NPCC stated while adding that the NPF government should stop experimenting on the lives and properties of the people with a weak Home Minister.
