NPCC to distribute free masks on May 21

Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Wednesday informed that it would be distributing free N-95 masks on May 21 to mark the 30th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The mask distribution would be conducted through the Nagaland Pradesh Youth COngress (NPYC) and Nagaland Students' Union of India (NSUI) Nagaland Unit, NPCC President K Therie informed in a press release.

“As opposition party we may not able to help much but we believe in the safety practices being first and foremost in controlling the pandemic. We believe proper use of masks can help,” Therie stated, while adding that every citizen has the responsibility to be careful during the pandemic.

Further, Therie cautioned that the State Government should be ready for the worst case scenario including in rural areas.

“The third wave that is under current discussion cannot be ruled out and we need to be prepared as it is feared to attack infants and children. If this situation arises, doctors and nurses alone will have a difficult time to nurse without parents,” he underscored. The government should not be caught unaware, he said while calling on the citizens to stay safe and follow all safety protocols.
