Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The NPF Central Office Bearers held a consultative meeting along with NPF Legislators of Nagaland & Manipur on August 3 at NPF Office, Kohima. During the consultative meet, the party unanimously adopted various resolutions.
Reaffirms leadership
According to a press release issued by the NPF Bureau, the meeting resolved to stand firm under the leadership of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, President Naga People’s Front and TR Zeliang leader of the NPF Legislature Party. “The house, at the same time endorsed the President and the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party to take any final decision in the event of new political re-alignment with other political parties particularly in the state of Nagaland and Manipur,” the NPF Bureau said.
Early solution of Naga Political issue
The party through the release also reiterated its stance on integration of all contiguous Naga areas as enshrined in Party’s Constitution and fervently appealed the neighboring states to be rational on their approach on the Naga Political issue.
While the house welcomed the suggestion of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for early solution of the Naga Political issue, it however stated that, “the report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee in its present form which has been widely published in the print media has not touched the core issues and hence it may have to re-look the report on the Naga Political issue.” The release further, urged the Government of India (GoI) and the Naga National Workers to expedite the ongoing Political talk and bring to a logical conclusion. It also appealed all other Naga National Groups who have not joined the peace process to reconsider their decisions in the interest of the Naga people.
Oppose proposed Citizenship Amendment Act
The meeting also resolved to oppose the proposed Citizenship Amendment Act in its present form urging the citizens of Nagaland to “remain alert as many illegal immigrants are likely to enter Nagaland in view of the publication of National Register of Citizens (NRC) by Government of Assam.”
It again impelled the Government of Nagaland to gear up all government machineries to prevent and check illegal immigrants from neighboring states.
Expressing discontent over the functioning of the present PDA government the party observed that “the PDA Government has failed on all fronts as it has not kept up to its promises made to the people during the past 147 days of its governance.”
