Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): The Legislature Party of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) is readying for the tenth session of the eleventh Nagaland Legislative Assembly, starting from September 15. The Chief Whip of the NPF Legislature Party issued directives to all its members today stipulating party decorum during the assembly. Chief Whip TR Zeliang issued the directives today.
The code of decorum said members of the NPF legislature party failing to comply with any of the directives would be inviting “consequences.” All members of the NPF legislature are to attend all the sittings of the House on all days and absence during voting shall be deemed violation of the party’s directive; all members are to vote in favor of “all measures” moved by “ministers and parliamentary secretaries” while they are to vote against “all measures” of the Congress Legislature Party.
Likewise, all members of the legislature party of the NPF are to vote in favor of ‘all measures’ moved by Independent members “which are favorable to the government” and vote against all measures moved by Independent members “who are critical of the government.”
“The leader of the house when replies/clarifies to any measure/statement moved/made by an Independent Member shall invariably indicate to the House whether the measure/statement moved/made by that Independent Member is favorable or inimical to the NPF party or the DAN government and whether the measure is to be voted in favor or against and accordingly the members of the legislature party of the NPF will follow the direction in this regard,” the Chief Whip explained.
No member of the party is to move any ‘measure’ or make statements in the house “which will be in the nature of criticism or embarrassment or loss of face of the NPF party or the DAN government or in similar nature of character.”
