NPF, Naga Hoho denounce Kilonser’s killing

DIMAPUR, MAY 23 (MExN): The Nagaland People’s Front today condemned in strongest terms the ‘fratricidal’ killing of Ngampan Konyak, Kilonser and Convenor of the NSCN (K) Council of Kilonsers at his residence in Mon town on May 18 last. “If one believes in the solution of protracted Naga Political Problem through peaceful means than killing has no place,” NPF spokesman R Paphino said in a release. Terming the intra-annihilation “within ourselves” as abominable, vicious and saying that the spiraling process is infinite, the NPF questioned, “How long this fratricidal killing will continue?”

While urging all sections of the Naga people to condemn the heinous crime, the NPF has called upon all the groups to exercise restrain “as this fratricidal killing is merely a self-destructive process.” 

The Party has conveyed its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and prays that the departed soul rest in peace. 

In a separate statement, the Naga Hoho expressed “disapproval” over the killing of the NSCN (K) Kilonser Ngampang Konyak and expressed pain and sorrow over the loss of Ngampang and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family members.

“At this crucial hour of Naga history, the Naga Hoho once again gives a clarion call to all and sundry: No More Bloodshed, No More Tears, We Want Oneness, We Want Peace”, a press communiqué issued by P. Chuba Ozukum Information and Publicity Secretary stated.

The Naga Hoho also regretted that the spate of killings and intimidation among Naga National workers has “become a paramount issue and disillusionment ever since the formation of the Naga Hoho”. The Hoho also clarified that the issue had been addressed in various platforms, meetings and that apart from the Naga Hoho, various tribal hoho and other civil societies have also been actively working for reconciliation among the different national workers. “Nevertheless, there is yet to be any tangible solution owing to many unresolved reasons”, the communiqué stated and pointed out that “to die as a national worker in the hands of own Naga brethren and to kill a brother by a national worker is beyond human comprehension”.
