NPF Phek Division appeals for review of expulsion order

Phek, March 11 (MExN): The NPF Phek Division on Wednesday wrote to the party president expressing “resentment on expulsion of office bearers and the dissolution of NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit”, and appealed for both the parties to review their stand on the issue.

Citing the sequence of events which led to the expulsion of the 15 office bearers of the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit and the dissolution of the unit, the NPF Phek Division highlighted the resolutions of its meeting held on March 9.

It may be mentioned that, earlier in January, K G Kenye, the lone Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP and the then Secretary General of NPF had to resign from the Secretary General post and his membership from the NPF was suspended which prompted the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit to write an emotionally charged open letter to the party president, ultimately leading to the expulsion of 15 office bearers and the dissolution of the NPF Area Unit.

After a threadbare deliberation on the expulsion and dissolution, and taking into consideration the consequences, the Division said it “had observed the genuineness of the open letter to the President NPF with documentary proof demanding for upholding justice within the party.”

The Division also expressed its displeasure over the ‘highhandedness’ of the top party functionaries on the issue.

However, the Division was also of the opinion that both the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit and the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) had completely ignored and by-passed the Phek Division on the whole matter.

It expressed resentment over the expulsion order dissolution of NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit on March 2 without consulting the Division, and termed it a ‘hasty decision’.

The NPF Phek Division further resolved to appeal to both NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit and the Central Office to review their stand and come to an understanding in the best interest of the party.

This, the Division said, will go a long way in “boosting the morale of the party and thereby retain the trust and confidence of the party loyalists at the grass root level.”
