NPF’s ‘double standard’ exposed again, says NDPP

Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today maintained that the “double standard” and “double speak” of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) was exposed once more by attending both the meetings of the NDA as well as the opposition parties in Delhi on May 21.

While the NPF had decided to pull out of the BJP alliance in Manipur after the counting of votes on May 23, the party has “shamelessly attended both the meetings of the NDA as well as the opposition parties in Delhi on May 21,” stated a press release issued by NDPP Media & Communication Committee.

The “politics” of the NPF has been “exposed openly in the public domain” through the list of participating political parties and their representatives who attended both meetings, alleged NDPP attaching the copies of the ‘attendance list’ along with the release.

“How much more blatant can the NPF become in openly declaring that they want to cut the cake and eat it too?”

The NDPP, in the release further questioned whether this was the kind of politics that the NPF was going to give the Naga people.

It further stated that the opposition parties headed by the Congress party organized a meeting of all non-BJP and non-NDA political parties at Delhi on May 21 and in the list of attendees and political parties, it was seen that the NPF party was represented by its Secretary General and MP (Rajya Sabha) KG Kenye and his PRO Dr SR Nareshram with their signatures appended at serial numbers 15 and 20.

On the same day, the release added that BJP National President Amit Shah had organized a meeting cum dinner of all NDA partners in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi where the NDPP, a constituent of NEDA was represented by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

What comes as a surprise is that in the list of NEDA partners who attended the meeting released by Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Convener of NEDA, it disclosed that the NPF was present and was represented by its Manipur unit president.

This coming at a time when the NPF publicly declared to withdraw their support to the BJP in Manipur is “not only obnoxious but should be dubbed as the most shameful political gimmickry in recent times,” the release maintained.

It questioned the opposition party on their “self-esteem” and on “what audacity” did they decide to face the BJP whom they have “not only hurled insult after insult” but with their recent decision.

Words cannot describe the level of lies and deceit that they have been feeding the people, the release maintained. “It is now for the people to judge whether the politics of the NPF is rife with double speak or not now that the documents are in the public domain for all too see,” it added.
