Registering protest against’ unaffordable’ LPG price rise, the Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (NPMCC) today sought the attention of  Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and demanded that the LPG price be reduced in public interest.

In a memorandum addressed to Governor, NPMCC stated that the price for a 14.50kg LPG cylinder which was Rs 410 in 2014 has increased to Rs 904 as on September 2021.

“The economy of the public has dipped down to the bottom due to the pandemic and unfriendly economic policies of the state government thus making purchase of LPG unaffordable for households, especially for widows,” stated NPMCC president N Lucy and general secretary Akumla Pongen. It stated that a welfare government is expected to exercise the Essential commodities Act with the given situation to fix the prices in the interests of the common consumers without bias or ill will.

NPMCC demanded that the state government and Government of India roll back LPG price to 2014 price.
