The National People’s Party (NPP) held a coordination meeting at Navinn Lodge in Tuensang on October 27. The state team led by its president Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema along with other rank and file from the state and district attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Andrew claimed that “every political party that comes to Nagaland always misuses or uses Eastern Naga people,” and that the region is seen as a ‘vote garnering area.’ He assured that the NPP would not do that.

“We have to make friendship, with loyalty and integration,” he added, while urging the people to “take the baton and the NPP party in your hand and say that you will bring some change for the future.”

Sharing experiences of their journey from Dimapur to Tuensang, and the bad road conditions he gave a comparison of travelling from Guwahati to Dimapur and from Dimapur to Tuensang.

He stated, “From Guwahati to Dimapur it is about 450kms which takes only 3 hours while travelling from Dimapur to Tuensang at about 300kms took us more than 15 hours. The road is not meant only for plying passengers, it also for the economy of the people. Better road conditions will take lesser time to reach Dimapur for selling agricultural products and will also be able to return on the same day.”

“NDPP promised ‘Change is coming’ but we will transform with ‘One voice, One Nagaland,” he maintained.

Earlier, Tohovi Achumi, General Secretary, (IPR & Media) NPP highlighted the party’s motives and said that under the leadership of Conrad Sangma, NPP is growing from strength to strength.

“It is the dream of our national president to see rise of young leaders from the North East so that we have refined able leaders shouldering the responsibilities of the North Eastern states in general and Nagaland state particularly.”

Tohovi claimed that in the present political scenario of Nagaland, “there is no political alternative.”

While elucidating that every party has its good and bad sides, he said that “the Naga people are so bored and fed up with the old wine in a new bottle,” and that it was time for “new wine in a new bottle so that the future of the Nagas, the future of the generation coming ahead of us are secured.”

“NDPP is built on a personality, it is 100% built on a personality called Neiphiu Rio and the day he collapses their party will come down. I was in BJP for a long time but the reason why I left it is because I did not see future for the Nagas in the long run and this is the reason why I chose a small party which does not even have an MLA. When I went through the philosophy, the ideologies and the principles of the NPP, I thought this is the right party for the Nagas,” he claimed.

Further, he said that the NPP is the only party from the North East to attain national party status and whose ideology is built on Christian values. “It is not a stagnant party but a growing one built on tribal values,” he added.

Limanuksung Longkumer, General Secretary (Organisation) NPP also shared on unity stating “One Voice, One Nagaland” and to leave a benchmark.

He also send condolences to CM Chang’s family and said it was great loss for the people of Tuensang while posing  “Who is going to replace the senior leader?”
