Dimapur, April 22 (MExN): The National People's Party (NPP), Nagaland State on Thursday extended appreciation to the State Governor RN Ravi for taking an ‘exemplary step’ of inclusiveness, bringing together various political parties and heads of State to deliberate and apprise on the COVID-19 situation.
Stating that the move has shown the concern he has for the State, it added that the Governor has set the trend before initiating any state-wide orders on lockdown.
It also encouraged the head of the state to be sensitive on issues pertaining to the State by initiating consultation with different stakeholders.
According to the NPP media cell, the members deliberated upon various issues pertaining to sudden lockdown of schools as well as the Sarfaesi Act and almost all agreed that lockdown should be the last resort.
It urged the Chief Minister to expedite the matter to formulate and implement the same for the betterment of the State.
The party also urged opposition leaders to play an active and strong role in Nagaland on any issues being faced by the State in order to bring constructive development for the larger interest of the public. It also urged the Government of Nagaland not to be active only in paper works but to “fasten any process in regards to development.”
The NPP also applauded outstanding officials, frontline workers, NGOs and well-wishers who stood their ground and efficiently handled the first phase of COVID-19 pandemic with limited information, thus saving the government from embarrassment.
It expressed hope that in the second phase, the government would be well prepared to handle the circumstances better. With experiences and essential information gathered from the past, the party stated that the government as should strategize on how to handle the situation should the COVID-19 cases rise in excess without creating any confusion.
Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, President NPP Nagaland also implored the government to stress on the lack of road and highway safety measures by constituting proper safety measures such as diversions, highway safety guidelines, caution tapes, reflectors, barricades, recovery van, ambulances etc.
The NPP Nagaland state conveyed their support towards working in unity for the betterment of the State.
