DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has termed the Nagaland State’s Government notification to unilaterally nominate/appoint members/advisors into local urban/municipal bodies in the state without conducting elections as undemocratic. “Local body election is paramount to ensure that, democracy is vibrant at all level in the state. Therefore, the state government notification is tantamount to hijacking of grass root democracy,” it said. The forum said that this “anti democratic” action by the government will needlessly invite dismal law and order situation. It therefore appealed to the State Government not to commit willful error and invite unsolicited situation by revoking the notification immediately.
