Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has condemned what it described as an "unprovoked attack" on volunteers of the Western Command of the Naga Village Guard and the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM), who it said were defending Bitiang village on July 29.
In a statement issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN (IM) alleged that the attack resulted in the death of a Naga Village Guard volunteer and termed the incident a "grave and unacceptable assault on the indigenous Naga community's right to security and protection."
It further alleged that the operation was carried out by the "Zeliangrong United Front (Jiangchui), in collusion with CoBRA units of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)." It claimed that the "apparent alignment of India's elite forces with armed aggressors undermines the neutrality and accountability of India."
The NSCN (IM) further expressed condolences to the family of the fallen Village Guard. “We mourn the loss of a brave Martyr who gave his life protecting his village and community," it said.
