NSCN (IM) holds consultative meet with Rengma orgs

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) held a consultative meeting with the Rengma frontal organizations at Town Hall, Tseminyu under Rengma Region on November 24.

According to a press release from the group’s MIP, the NSCN team was led by Maj. Retd. Hutovi Chishi (Convener of the Steering Committee), Ashiho Asoumai (Speaker of the Tatar Hoho), V Horam (Executive member of the Steering Committee), Kihoyi Swu (Convener of the Cease Fire Monitoring Cell/CFMC), and Er Akaho Assumi (Secretary of Keya Affairs). 

The Rengma people were represented by the Rengma Hoho, Rengma Mothers’ Association, Rengma GBs Association, Rengma Chairmen Forum, Rengma Selo Zi and Rengma Students’ Union, it said.

The meeting was conducted by Ruyolo Thong, Deputy Kilonser and Caretaker CAO of Rengma Region. 

“The meeting deliberated on the historical and political rights of the Naga people and the journey that led to the signing of the historic Framework Agreement. The Competencies and the Pan Naga Hoho were also discussed to leave no one in doubt,” the release stated.

The NSCN acknowledged the historical significance of the Rengma community who took active part in the making of the Naga national flag which was hoisted at Parashen under Rengma region for the first time in the history of the Nagas. The Rengmas also have the honour of giving the first President through Whenha Rengma to the Naga government, it added.
