Mokokchung, August 9 (MExN): One person was shot dead by some unidentified gunmen on August 8 at Longkong village under Mokokchung district at around 9:00pm. The deceased have been identified as Chubamayang of Longkong village aged around 50 years. He was “Raja Peyu” of the Changkikong Range of the NSCN (IM). According to Mokokchung Police, some three to four armed miscreants came to the house of the deceased last night. The deceased after seeing the gunmen tried to flee but could not escape the bullets. Police recovered four empty cases of AK 47 from the spot of the incident. The identity of the assailants could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. The police have a registered a case and further investigations are on.
