NSCN (IM) reiterates stand on FA, rejects calls for ‘common platform’

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 28 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has reiterated its stand on the Naga political issue, asserting that it remains the “only authentic political organization” engaged in official political negotiations with the Government of India at the Prime Minister’s level.

In a statement issued by the Tatar Hoho, the NSCN (IM) said “false political narratives” and “divisive teachings” were being propagated in public forums and media, compelling it to restate its position. The group alleged that the NNC had “fallen from grace,” following which the Naga National Assembly mandated the NSCN (IM) to continue the resistance movement. It said it has fought “enemies of all hues” across Naga areas and survived “numerous onslaughts,” maintaining that it remains committed to an honourable political solution and not a military one.

Reaffirming its commitment to the 2015 Framework Agreement, the NSCN said the accord was achieved after “fifty years of struggle, sacrifice and labour,” and warned that pursuing any new agreement could take “another fifty years or more.”

The group questioned calls for forming a “common platform” outside the NSCN, describing itself as the political council under which the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, the Naga Army, civil society bodies and church councils function. It claimed that the Naga public, churches and civil organisations “stand with it.”

It said the Framework Agreement recognizes the unique Naga history, sovereignty, identity, land and the right to integrate Naga territories, as well as the NSCN’s role as the political representative of the Naga people. It warned that any backtracking by the Government of India on the Framework Agreement would amount to a “murder of human rights and history.”

The NSCN also condemned the Forum for Naga Reconciliation’s (FNR) statement titled “Beyond Framework Agreement,” terming it “an antithesis” of the accord and alleging that it attempts to undermine the agreement.
