Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): Capt (Retd) Wunganing Shimray, Executive Member, Steering Committee, NSCN died in Imphal on November 17.
Late Wunganing, from Shokvao village under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), died due to a chronic kidney problem, the NSCN (IM) informed. He joined the NSCN in 1986.
In a condolence note, the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) mourned Late Wunganing’s demise and described him as a “dedicated revolutionary patriot” who showed his zeal, and tirelessly worked towards fulfilling his dreams.
There are a number of fields in Ukhrul district (WTR) and Council Headquarters (CHq) Hebron that shows the footprint of development initiated by him, it said.
Among others, the Circular Road in Ukhrul town is his brainchild and during his short stint as the Convener of CHq Development, he took up many projects and the Hebron Gate that he constructed is a landmark today, it added.
In his demise, the Naga nation has lost a dynamic leader whose burning passion to serve the nation was cut short and we find it difficult to imagine the vacuum created, added the condolence note from MIP, NSCN (IM).
A true son of the soil he proved his mettle as a man for the Naga nation and his name will be recorded in the history of Naga political struggle, it added.
The NSCN (IM) also expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and close friends.
“May the Almighty God give them the strength and courage to hold on the loss! Most importantly, may the spirit of (L) Capt (Retd) Wunganing Shimray rest in eternal peace!”
