NSCN-K (Khango) clarifies

Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Khango) has issued a statement addressing allegations surrounding the events of December 16, and outlined its position on the matter. The organization clarified that it penalized contractor Aolemba with a fine of Rs 50 lakh for failing to execute project works as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and for misappropriating substantial funds allocated for the project.

In a press release, the NSCN-K (Khango) stated that the decision was made after thorough deliberation in a cabinet meeting. “The Government is in possession of enough proof and evidence to supplement its stand and will not hesitate to bring it to the public domain if needed,” the statement read.

It urged civil society organizations (CSOs) to consider the rationale behind the action taken against Aolemba. “As a people’s mandate Government, we send a clear message to all contractors and suppliers in Nagaland to execute works as prescribed in the DPR for the overall development of the state,” it emphasized.

The group further called on competent authorities to strictly verify all ongoing projects, stressing the need to curb corruption. “The NSCN-K (Khango) will not remain a mute spectator when large sums of money intended for developmental projects are siphoned off, depriving the younger generation of progress,” it added.

Expressing concern over remarks made during a recent joint press conference, the NSCN-K (Khango) condemned suggestions from certain CSO leaders to prepare for civil war or bloodshed. “Such statements are uncalled for when all Nagas are yearning for a peaceful final settlement. Our stand remains crystal clear: we will never tolerate another bloodshed among the Naga family,” it stated.
