DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The ceasefire agreement between the NSCN/GPRN-K (Niki) and the Government of India has been extended for another year following a review and extension meeting held in New Delhi on September 7.
A press release from the MIP of the NSCN-K (Niki) said the meeting "was successfully concluded" with the signing of the Ceasefire Extension Agreement. The NSCN-K (Niki) delegation was led by Abel Zingrü Thuer, Supervisor, Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), while the Government of India delegation was led by Niraj Kumar Bansod, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.
The ceasefire has been extended for a further period of one year, with the two sides reaffirming their commitment to continue the process through "peaceful dialogue and mutual understanding," the statement said. The agreement was signed on behalf of the NSCN-K (Niki) by Abel Zingrü Thuer and Ameka Achumi, Secretary, CFSB.
