NSCN Khaplang deplores Army Major’s vandalism

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN Khaplang has deplored what it termed as the vandalism of one Major Chauhan. “The unwarranted act of looting and vandalism committed by 6th A/R Mon led by one ignorant officer Maj.Chauhan on 12 September at the residence of Lt.col. Apang Konyak at Mon town shows the beastly nature of a coward shrouded in Indian Army Uniform”, stated a press note from the MIP. “When the last six decades of India’s military crackdown on Nagas struggle for self-determination could not dis-posses the Nagas quest, a mere salaried military officer who knows not a thing about the history, identity and political rights of the Nagas trying to prove his heroism by threatening at gunpoint the innocent wife and children of a Naga patriot is vain and ironic”, stated the press note.
It was alleged that Major.Chauhan after venting his ire by destroying all the household goods, utensils, furniture, drawers, refrigerator, television etc. also took away the valuables and ornaments along with around 15 sets of uniform, assorted ammos and also 200 rounds of AK bullets. “The GOI’s acknowledgement of the Indo-Naga issue as political requiring political settlement needed to be taught to young feeble officers on salaried tour in Nagaland, with the on-going political process between GOI and Nagas and the existing bi-lateral cease-fire, the State is considered as peace station, the Army should therefore remain confined to barrack and not to ridiculously meddle in the daily affairs of the Nagas”, the press note stated.
Further disdainful was the fact that only the wife and children were at home during the forceful intrusion and looting thus causing traumas and shock on the innocent civilians. The higher authority of the AR has been told to “admonish and recall such brutish officer from Nagaland immediately or face befitting wrath of the Naga public”.
