DIMAPUR, JULY 1 (MExN): The National Socialist Council of Nagaland Khaplang group has stated that it was constrained to issue this statement on the police’s preliminary investigation that pointed on the motive behind the bomb blast at Ambuja Cement retail shop at 3rd Mile in Dimapur “as a result of clash between the two factions of NSCN (K) over the taxation issue” which appeared in all the local dailies. A press note issued by the Publicity Wing of NSCN/GPRN disclosed that it had conducted its own investigation on the incident and preliminary investigation has revealed that one Major Hotoi of Khehoi Camp presently residing in Chekiye Village was behind the June 30 bomb hurling incident.
The press note revealed that Major Hotoi had a share of business deal with Pankaj Jain, the owner of the retail shop and was in contention to take over the business from Pankaj and due to non-clearance of account, the two had developed misunderstanding. “Major Hotoi had on many occasions threatened Pankaj Jain at gun point and was contemplating on evicting Pankaj from Dimapur by duress”, claimed the press note.
The NSCN/GPRN also admitted that there was misunderstanding with the owner of the retail shop in negotiating the yearly taxes in the past and had locked the retail outlet. “Had we had any intention to harm him, we could have apprehended/captured the owner in the first place to sort out the matter”, the press note stated.
According to the press note, “taking advantage of the situation prevailing in Dimapur and also the fact that he is a Khehoi Camper, Major Hotoi besides inflicting psychological trauma on Pankaj, hurled the bomb at the retail shop with an intention to blame the NSCN/GPRN”. “Major Hotoi is solely responsible for the June 30 bomb hurling incident and we condemn such act that took the life of an innocent individual and causing injury to 3 others”.
NSCN (Khaplang) decries police raid
Meanwhile in a separate press note the NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) has decried the raid conducted by the Kohima police on its cadres taking shelter in different locations on June 29. The publicity wing of the outfit questioned the action of the police led by S.P Kohima terming the raid as suspicious. The outfit has questioned the police on whether the raid was conducted with the permission from the Ceasefire Supervisory Board or was it the MHA that the order to conduct the raid was issued. Stating that unless there is violation of ceasefire rules from its cadres, such action is unwarranted and has therefore sought clarification from SP Kohima on what ground the raid was conducted and the intentions behind the action by Kohima police.
Further, the ministry of Chaplee NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) has issued another clarification with regard to financial matters in Kohima and Dimapur districts. The release from the chaplee ministry has informed that its finance secretary A. Kits Achumi will deal all matters of finance in Kohima. The release further informed that no other person other than the finance secretary is authorized to deal/collect tax or in any government departments/offices till further orders are issued in this regard. It also informed that in order to avoid confusion/misunderstanding among the people, it has asked the affected persons to contact the finance secretary at 9436435669/9089179931 in Kohima and A.K.
