The NSCN (R) led by Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak held a joint council meeting to reaffirm trust in the collective leadership.

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): The NSCN (R) informed that its members have “reaffirmed their full faith and trust” on the collective leadership of Y Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak.

As per a press release from its MIP Secretary, the decision was taken at a joint council meeting, held at its designated camp, which was attended by all its senior party leaders, including Kilonsers, top military officials and advisors to the collective leadership.

“The house assured the collective leaders of full support and co-operation in all thick and thin situation, come what may,” it said, while adding that a “re-commitment service” was also observed in the Council Church to serve the Naga national cause with greater vigour and dedication, under the banner of “Nagaland for Christ.”

The release further accused its former member, Akato Chophi of financial and weapons misappropriation. According to the release, Chophi had allegedly misappropriated NSCN (R) funds to the tune of Rs 7 crore when he was incharge of Chaplee (Finance) from 2017 till August 2021.

“He also stole at least 46 numbers of arms from the National Armory before deciding to quit the national service,” it added. While charging Chophi of treachery and malicious campaign against the NSCN (R), it claimed that the former was found guilty on “at least 3 counts.”

While asking Chophi to return the money and weapons within a week, from the publication of the press release, it added that the NSCN (R) should not be held responsible for any untoward incident.

It further appealed to all “honorable Naga leaders; working under different Naga political banners” not to accept the “stolen arms” in the event Chophi decides to join one of the Naga Political Groups.
