NSCN/GPRN condemns reported drone strike on Langkho village

Kohima, October 6 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN Provisional Government has condemned what it described as a ‘drone strike’ by the Indian Army on Langkho village in Eastern Nagalim, claiming that two civilians, including a minor girl, were wounded and properties damaged.

In a statement issued on October 6, the group’s Provisional Government said the alleged strike took place in the early hours of October 3, following midnight. It described the incident as an “act of aggression” against the civilian population and alleged that it amounted to a violation of international law.

It further alleged that the incident was part of a wider pattern of military repression in Naga areas, referring to the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), which it said had shielded security forces from accountability for alleged human rights violations.

The statement also criticised India’s pursuit of a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, arguing that its alleged conduct in Nagalim was ‘inconsistent with the principles it projected internationally.’

To this end, the Provisional Government called for an independent international inquiry into the reported drone strike and urged that those responsible be held accountable, adding that of if Government of India denies responsibility for the incident, it should have no objection to an impartial international investigation.

It further appealed to the international community to ‘institute an independent inquiry’ into the incident and urged citizens to remain vigilant and assert their rights.
