DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 6 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN has stated that with the three political groups coming together to defend the historical and political rights of the Nagas it was time the three groups also come together in a coordinated manner and run down on these social evils with a heavy hand. “Every conceivable means with the active support of the public be explored to make a success against the criminals who have gone too far”, stated a press note from the MIP. The NSCN/GPRN was referring to the anti-social elements that loom at large in Dimapur and terming this as a “matter of serious concern”. In this regard it has suggested that “the designated agency/department of each group dealing in crime show up in action to shoulder greater responsibility in controlling crimes, particularly in Dimapur”.
“The fact they are making their hey days in this commercial hub of Nagaland to make easy money and crime of all sorts are committed cannot be set aside without doing some serious crackdown lest the very gain made in the political level is driven to the point of hard earn peace lost in the hands of criminals”, stated the MIP note while suggesting that the three political groups come together and “run down on these social evils with a heavy hands”.
Stating that the public must be fed up to hear of kidnapping, rape, molestation, extortion by individuals, theft of all kinds, the MIP note pointed out that it was time that “we awaken ourselves to face the reality and at least show our face to the public that as much as we are serious in pursuing the political interest of the Nagas we show equal seriousness in dealing with the crime and help do away the notoriety the Dimapur has earned in recent past”. “No doubt other places wherever crime exists should also be handled in the same manner. But the intensity of crime in Dimapur has gone beyond tolerance. People’s faith in Naga political groups is losing and this must be retrieved by doing something beyond people’s expectation”, stated the MIP.

State Govt must enact spl laws, says Naga Hoho on anti socials
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 6 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has expressed regret that rampant collection of taxes, extortion and kidnapping of innocent citizens for ransom by different groups have been the order of the day which leads to a standstill of economic stability in the state. Stating that “while unity and reconciliation among the various political groups is a good beginning”, the Naga Hoho pointed out that “it has also become something like giving license to them for more extortion and taxation which is not at all acceptable to the people”.
In this backdrop, the Naga Hoho fervently appealed to the law enforcing agencies not to leave any stones unturned and nab all forms of anti social elements and further proposed that the state Government must enact special laws in order to reduce such elements in near future. The Naga Hoho seriously viewed the cases of kidnapping which are looming large in Dimapur, and joined the various organizations to out rightly condemn such activities. Another alarming crime in Naga society is the rape and murder of innocent womenfolk, the acts of which are permissible only for Indian Armed forces under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, it stated.
The Naga Hoho informed about its recent resolution during its 4th Federal Assembly recently that, henceforth, every tribe Hoho must shoulder responsibility within their jurisdiction to eradicate this menace and seek cooperation from all Naga political groups towards this endeavour. This was stated in a press note issued by Keviletuo Kiewhuo, President and P.Chuba Ozukum, General Secretary Naga Hoho.
It stated that fratricidal killings among the different Naga political groups have affected many Naga families and marked our struggle for self determination during the last few decades. However with the launching of Forum for Naga Reconciliation, a strong voice from the Naga people, the bloodshed could somehow be stopped for nearly three years. Now the Naga people are also happy over the signing of “Naga Concordant” among a few Collective leaders aiming towards the formation of a common Naga National Government, it stated.
