DIMAPUR, JUNE 24 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has issued a statement clarifying that the person who was killed in a scuffle with the Kohima Police on June 23 and an accomplice who was arrested have no connection to the group.
A press release from the MIP, NSCN/GPRN (K) said that “both the deceased and the apprehended person have at no point of time enrolled in the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) or involved with us in any capacity.” It claimed that reports of the two persons as belonging to NSCN/GPRN (K) were “completely erroneous.”
“While the NSCN/GPRN do not condone extortion activities, in order to sustain the on-going Naga political struggle, nominal taxes, contributions and reasonable fund mobilisations are imperative until an amicable political solution is achieved and to this end the NSCN/GPRN is sincerely pursuing the course,” the press statement added.
