NSCN/GPRN-K flays raids by AR

Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN-K on Thursday accused the Assam Rifles (AR) of violating Ceasefire Ground Rules and voiced its resentment over the ‘frequent’ raids conducted by the Assam Rifles of Spear Corps on its workers.

In a press release issued through its MIP, the NSCN/GPRN-K alleged that the presence of “certain Assam Rifles commanders in and around Dimapur under the aegis of the Assam Rifles of Spear Corps, creating  a war like situation purposefully to instill fear and insecurity among the Naga stakeholders, discredit the political dialogue…”

The NSCN/GPRN-K claimed that midnight/pre-dawn raids of its workers and their relatives’ households in and around Dimapur are becoming more frequent under Assam Rifles of Spear Corps.

It cited recent instances where 5 of its cadres were ‘entrapped’ from Eros Lane Dimapur on November 22 last and that of December 11 where a certain ‘Major Ajay’ reportedly raided the house of Lt Col Hukheto Aye, a Red card holder in his absence and confiscated two weapons and arrested his brother Jonika Aye who was sleeping in his neighbor’s house. It further stated the brother was ‘illegally arrested’ and tagged as their party worker which was published in local dailies and social media on December 14.

The NSCN/GPRN-K termed it a ‘blatant violation of Ceasefire Ground Rules’ and added that, such action by the AR is “unjustifiable and should be considered as anti-people and anti-solution.”

It cautioned that in case of any eventuality that arises in view of the violation of Ceasefire Ground Rules by the Assam Rifles commanders, they “must own full responsibility.”
