NSCN/GPRN (Niki) criticises eight Naga MLAs of Manipur

Adds “this reprehensible representation serves as a direct challenge to the very idea of Naga Nation”

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has condemned the recent representation submitted by eight Naga Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Manipur State Assembly, along with 32 other MLAs to the Prime Minister.

The representation demanded complete disarmament, withdrawal of the Suspension of Operation agreement with Kuki groups, the implementation of a National Register of Citizens (NRC), strengthening of Autonomous District Council, and said no separate administration for the Kuki-Zomi tribes should be considered.

A press release from the MIP of the NSCN/GPRN (Niki) said that the 8 Naga MLAs “supposedly representing the Nagas of Manipur have willfully been blinded and guided by their self-serving individualistic gains; shaming and tainting the very people that elected them to serve and represent.”

It noted that the United Naga Council has “rightfully rejected and disowned the representation.”

“When all Nagas irrespective of artificially imposed borders are yearning and working towards the attainment of a political solution with a unified Naga Homeland, this reprehensible representation serves as a direct challenge to the very idea of Naga Nation,” it added.

It further maintained that the NSCN/GPRN (Niki) “will not stand silent but will take up any necessary measures to protect and defend the political aspirations of the Naga People, whenever challenged.”
