Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Appeals continue to be made to the two NSCN factions following decisions taken by each against certain people. Parliamentary Secretary for CAWD Y Hewoto Awomi has asked the NSCN-IM to reconsider the “azha” served to Principal Secretary Alemtemshi. In the same vein, Mangmetong village has asked the NSCN-K to withdraw the ‘labels’ on Education minister Imkong L Imchen.
A note from Parliamentary Secretary Awomi affirmed that Alemtemshi is a dedicated officer who has been serving the people at all possible level irrespective of ‘tribe, creed or ism.’ “I would like to say that it was just unfortunate for Alemtemshi as he was attached to then chief minister as special secretary during that time for which he should not be held equally responsible” stated the parliamentary secretary in a note received here. “The architect behind the publication should be held responsible and answerable; however the machineries, the tools and other material involved in the publication should not be equally penalized” he stated.
Awomi appealed to the NSCN-IM to reconsider the ‘azha” on Alemtemshi so that bureaucrats, governments servants and citizens can work sincerely and dedicatedly for the people “without any fear psychosis.”
In a separate letter, the Mangmetong Village Council termed as baseless the NSCN-K’s charging Education Minister Imkong over the affiliation issue. The council reminded the outfit that the state government has already clarified over the responsibility and expenses that went in accommodating into Nagaland’s examinations the students from the hill districts of Manipur.
A note from the village council’s executives asserted that it is far from justification that a single individual should be particularized and blamed. The council also stated that it is “unacceptably ironic” that a true son of the soil like Imchen should be branded as “anti-national” and ‘traitor.” It was pointed out the Imchen himself had devoted his life to serving the Nagas. He had served as president of the Ao Students’ conference, president of Ao Senden and general secretary of NSF. “Now having maintained a long record of service and dedication for the cause of Naga societies, how can he be branded as a traitor for a deed and responsibilities of which has been owned by an established government?” the council queried.
The village also took pride that it has been standing firm for the Naga cause for long, having equally suffered under the “draconian hands of the Indian army.” It has been razed to ashes for as many as nineteen times, the council said. And Mangmetong citizens are proud to have borne all these bitter struggles for the Nagas, it stated.
The council has asked the NSCN-K to “kindly” withdraw the “labels” of “anti-national” and “traitor” on Imkong.
