NSH decries Vikuto village incident

Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): The Northern Sumi Hoho (NSH) on Friday condemned the May 27 incident at Vikuto village bordering Assam.

In its press release, the NSH alleged that ‘illegal settlers’ from Assam, led by Assam police personnel and a Congress MLA were involved in destruction of few huts and hundreds  of Areca nut plantation and also allegedly fired rounds of assault rifle towards the villagers on May 27.

The NSH said that their claims of Assam’s land being encroached by Nagas, as portrayed on social media and various Assam news channels were ‘baseless and far from  the truth’, “as they entered more than 2 kms well inside Nagaland.”

In this regard, the NSH has urged the government of Nagaland to take up the matter on priority “so that no unwanted situation arises in future.”
