New Delhi, August 25 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) on August 22 organised an alumni meet of DDU-GKY trained youths at the Migration Support Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi, aimed at bringing together and supporting those working in and around the Delhi-NCR region.

Santosh Kumar Tiwari, Director, Rural Skills, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, attended the event as the chief guest. Describing DDUGKY as a “wonderful program,” he assured the participants of sustained support from both the state and central governments. “Not only is the Govt of Nagaland behind you, but the Govt of India is also behind you,” he said.

In his concluding remarks, Tiwari said DDUGKY was unique and successful because it emphasised both training and placement. He acknowledged the challenges of training and placing youth outside the state and urged participants to make use of the Migration Support Centres. He commended NSRLM for hosting the programme and stressed the importance of holding similar meetings to keep young people connected.

Speaking on the occasion, Moa Sangtam, Joint Secretary, RD & Mission Director, NSRLM, highlighted the difficulty of securing government jobs and encouraged the alumni to act as responsible “ambassadors for the Nagas.” Expressing satisfaction at seeing many young people engaged in livelihoods outside Nagaland, he assured them of continued support from NSRLM.

The programme began with a prayer by Imkongmeren Imchen, Associate Pastor of the Delhi Ao Baptist Church, while Menuoneituo Chadi, NSRLM COO (Skills), delivered the welcome address.

The event also featured testimonials from alumni and a parent. Kekhriesenuo Keyie, an alumna of PLS Auto Shell Industries Pvt Ltd, said she was now self-sufficient and able to help her parents. Nrithung Patton, an alumnus of Global Peers Skilling & Development Initiatives Pvt Ltd, thanked NSRLM and the governments of Nagaland and India for the opportunities they provided.

An emotional testimony came from Lualang Konyak, who said his family’s living standards had improved significantly as three of his children were trained through the DDUGKY programme. He expressed gratitude to both the state and central governments for the opportunity.
