Mokokchung, November 19 (MExN): Nagaland Sarva Shiskha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) 2010 & 13, Mokokchung Unit has reinforced the appeal made by its Apex body to release the pending salary from September before the end of November.
While acknowledging the decision of the Cabinet to streamline (SSA 2010-13 batch) into the mainstream of the School Education Cadre in Agenda-1 decision of the Cabinet sitting on September 26, NSSATA 2010 & 13, Mokokchung Unit in a press release stated that it was callous to exhort the aggrieved teachers to provide quality education while keeping them and their families ‘malnourished.’ It is ‘unrealistic to expect bountiful harvests if you have not watered the crops,’ stated the release appended by its President Aridong and General Secretary Temsuinla.
In spite of repeated assurances by the government, particularly on the agreement signed on June 12 to device a mechanism for timely release of salaries, the release noted that salaries from September till date were pending. Moreover, the recently released salaries of June-August were in the process of being credited which, when completed will only serve the purpose of clearing debts incurred during the unpaid months. Due to the intermittent delay, unable to support families, the teachers were on the verge of losing zest to teach, added the release.
As per the agreement signed on June 12 in the presence of ENSF and NSF, the Association stated that even after extending full co-operation towards all directives in good faith that the said Agreement will be upheld, they were yet to see any positive result.
The Association further urged the government to hasten the release of RoP affected salaries pending from September before the end of November. If unable to do so, the release said, it wanted nothing less than 3 months’ salary (September-November) by the first week of December.
“We want our limbs back for Christmas with our families which we have surrendered for the service of the state through faithful duties at our respective schools,” the Association stated.
It further urged NSF and the ENSF to continue supporting their cause to bring it to fruition during this trying time.
