
Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Transparency' Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) today alleged “financial scam” in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-G) Scheme in Nagaland and demanded an SIT investigation into the matter.
The funds for PMAY-G essentially guaranteeing for “housing for all by 2022” has been “totally mis-utilised,” the newly-floated organisation maintained in a press release.
The NTPRADAO claimed that a Right To Information (RTI) activist approached them to urgently address this matter in the public interest.
According to the organisation, the activist filed an RTI with the Rural Department (RD), and the department's response clearly stated that "no amount was given to the beneficiaries under PMAY-G."
However, the RTI information revealed that the Finance Department had sanctioned and disbursed an amount of Rs 74,73,07,700 for the construction of PMAY-G units, benefiting 21,748 beneficiaries across 11 districts in Nagaland, stated the NTPRADAO.
The press release issued by NTPRADAO General Secretary Zuchamo Patton and Secretary (Enquiry) Keduta Chakesang further alleged that the amount was “mis-utilised” by a former director of RD as well as 11 other project director.
Another Director, who was then PIO & Additional Director, is also answerable, it added, further accusing the present RD Director of “shielding” the officials.
In this connection, the NTPRADAO appealed the Chief Minister to immediately “institute an special Investigation Team (SIT) within 15 days to uncover the “facts of the financial scam and nail the concern ex-officials. The NTPRADAO cautioned of taking drastic action if their demand is not met.
