Nagaland University, Lumami campus, observed a Tiranga Rally on August 14 as part of the 79th Indian Independence Day celebrations. The rally aimed to mobilize the university community and instill a sense of national pride among participants.

The event was graced by Professor Jagadish K. Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor Nagaland University, who addressed the gathering. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of Independence Day and noted that this was one of the largest gatherings the campus has witnessed for such an event.

The mass rally saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, research scholars, and administrative staff. It was organized under the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which encourages citizens to take pride in the national flag and reaffirm their commitment to the country.

Professor Patnaik highlighted that the purpose of the Tiranga Yatra is to evoke a strong sense of national and civilizational identity among every citizen. He noted that such initiatives are both unique and commendable, and should be appreciated.

He praised the vision of the Prime Minister, describing him as creative and forward-thinking. “This campaign is designed to sensitize every individual to the values of nationalism and unity,” he said.

Speaking in the context of the Northeast region, he remarked, “The spirit of nationalism must be deeply rooted not only in our minds and hearts, but also in our soil.”

He concluded by expressing confidence that the Tiranga Yatra in Nagaland would leave a lasting impact on the hearts and minds of students and colleagues alike. The National Anthem was also presented during the event.
