In the wake of the 13 DMC members issuing a petition to the DC proposing a No Confidence Motion against Chairperson Vikheho Awomi and Deputy Chairperson DP Angami, the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur K.N Ngullie has decided to allow the vote of no confidence to go ahead but on the strict condition that the names of all the 13 signatories would be first scrutinized and physically verified including summoning them to the Municipal Office to be paraded before the DC. Thereafter, the DC will summon a sitting of all the elected members of the DMC as a matter of constitutional requirement. Only after fulfilling the proper norms, the Vote of No Confidence will be allowed, according to Ngullie. The DC clearly pointed out that whatever steps he will take in the next few days will be done strictly according to the Municipal Act. “I will follow the law”, the DC maintained in a telephonic talk with The Morung Express. As of now, political observers feel that Chairperson Vikheho does not have the requisite number to defeat the proposed ‘No Confidence Motion’ against his leadership.
