NVBDCP State Review meeting held

Kohima, October 4 (MExN): The National Vector Borne District Control Programme (NVBDCP) State Review meeting was held at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima on October 3 and 4. 


Senior Regional Director MoHFW, Dr LA Singh, NVBDCP State and District officials and staff participated in the two-day meeting.  


On the first day, the welcome address was delivered by the Deputy Director, NVBDCP, Dr. Neisakho Kere. He expressed hope that the deliberations undertaken in the meeting will be helpful in propelling the state towards malaria elimination target of 2022. He said that in order to achieve elimination by 2022, all the districts have to report zero malaria cases next year i.e. 2021. 


A presentation on overview of the Programme was presented by Dr. Talitemsula Jamir, State Programme Officer, NVBDCP. She presented that zero malaria deaths have been reported in the last three years and Mokokchung, Longleng and Phek have reported zero malaria cases in 2019 so far. She added that only four Dengue cases have been detected so far in 2019 as opposed to 374 cases in 2018. Nine Japanese Encephalitis (JE) case have been detected so far in 2019 from Mokokchung and Dimapur. 


The address was followed by district presentations on programme implementation in their respective districts with inputs and suggestions from the participants. 


The second day the meeting discussed and reviewed programme implementation in the districts.
