Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): A two days training on the subject ‘Consumer Rights’ was conducted for youth drawn from different walks of life on March 25 to 26, 2013 by Administrative Training Institute, Kohima (ATI). NVCO challenged the young people to realize that ‘Corruption is the greatest enemy of economy
development’.
A press note issued to the Media stated that the President of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi gave paper presentation and highlighted the various developmental projects allegedly taken up by the State Government in total violation of tender norms of both NPWD & CPWD code, and total violation of all ethics of technicality based on the book “Enough is Enough Say No to Corruption” published by the organization. The President NVCO & Anti-corruption team leader as the main speaker stated that the state government has totally ignored the representations submitted for cancellation or correction of the illegality committed by the concerned department, minister, Chief Engineers, and other officials.
The note also mentioned that Savi cited cases of malpractice in projects. He also said that taking advantage of state projects, contractors are able to manipulate in getting exorbitant rates and contract clause and stated, “I don’t blame the contractors alone as everyone would be more willing and happy to get the work with high rates but I blame the technocrats the so called expert in executing the projects which is to strictly follow the present prevailing Scheduled of Rates (SOR)”. The NVCO strongly voiced against the exorbitant rates and contract clause which are contrary to NPWD & CPWD Code and puts the state government into financial crisis. The NVCO strongly cautioned the department for repeatedly committing all the illegality in awarding big project involving hundred crores of rupees.
