Chiephobozou, September 12 (MExN): The Nerhema Youth and Sports Organisation (NYSO) on Saturday launched “Vision 75: The Futsal Chapter” at the Futsal Turf here, with 12 teams comprising around 140-150 players participating in the league.
The opening ceremony was held at 4 pm, with Khrielie Üsou, President, BJP Kohima District, as the inaugural guest.
The initiative is being held under the theme, “The Platinum Jubilee March Begins with Unity, Honor & Legacy”. The futsal season will run from September to December 2026, with matches scheduled on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The programme was chaired by Medochütuo Kiewhuo, Sports Secretary, NYSO. The invocation was offered by Mezhükholie Pienyü, Associate Pastor, Nerhema Baptist Church, followed by a special number presented by Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Visakuolie Kengurüse, Convenor, NYSO Futsal Jury Board. In his presidential address, Kiyasetuo Kengurüse, President, NYSO, welcomed the gathering and said the futsal initiative was aimed at nurturing sporting talent and promoting youth development.
He encouraged the players to give their best and said the NYSO would continue working towards structured sports development, including organising sports clinics and training programmes.
Kengurüse also highlighted preparations for the Jubilee 2030 Games Meet, stressing the importance of developing players and creating opportunities for them to participate in various sporting disciplines.
Addressing the gathering, Üsou stressed the importance of sports in youth development and community building. He called for greater commitment to developing local sporting talent and urged organisers to focus on long-term player development rather than seasonal competitions.
Üsou encouraged the players to rely on hard work, discipline and perseverance rather than family background or financial circumstances. He also urged the younger generation to make productive use of their time and resources.
He emphasised sincerity, honesty, respect for God and community responsibility, while encouraging greater self-reliance through productive activities such as farming and organic plantation.
Calling for unity and reconciliation, Üsou urged the community to overcome past differences, respect its leaders and work collectively towards a stronger future.
He expressed hope that the initiative would help revive the sporting spirit and produce players capable of representing the community in different disciplines.
The NYSO’s “Vision 75: The Futsal Chapter” is expected to serve as a platform for grassroots sports development and talent identification as the community moves towards its Platinum Jubilee and the planned Jubilee 2030 Games Meet.
The futsal league has 12 participating teams, comprising around 140-150 players.
