Okotso Youth Organization statement termed ‘null and void’

DIMAPUR, JAN 28 (MExN): In a general meeting held on January 16 at Okotso village, the villagers including senior members, dignitaries and office bearers of the Okotso Unions of Dimapur, Kohima and Wokha thoroughly examined the sudden spurt of statements/articles in the name of Okotso village council or by individuals claiming to be Okotso villagers through local newspapers wherein the council denied of having issued the articles disseminated by local medias in the month of October 2006, Longshithung Ngullie, president of the Okotso Students Union in a press release stated.

The controversial press article purportedly issued by some unscrupulous persons in the name of the Chairman OVC was declared null and void and general declaration was made that “any one caught impersonating Okotso villagers, organizations etc trying to tarnish the age old good image or disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Okotso village shall be suit for defamation” it added.

Furthermore, Ngullie said, “Surprisingly, not withstanding the above declaration, a press statement quoting the names of Yisansao Shitiri, chairman OVC Rapemo Merry, Chairman Okotso Youth organization have emerged in the local dailies expressing their support to Ekyimo Kikon without the knowledge of the youths and the citizens of the village”. The Okotso youth organization has been defunct since the past couple years and is under scrutiny and consideration to revamp the organization, the student leader stated.

“The Okotso Students’ Union hereby vows to stand by the declaration and agreement of the January 16, 2007 meeting at Okotso village as mentioned above, and appeal to all right thinking people to desist from such cheap means of livelihood.”
