Kohima, March 31 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel manning Khuzama Inter-State check gate on March 30 arrested one person and seized approximately 360 grams of suspected heroin. A case in this connection has been registered at Khuzama Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985 for further investigation, according to a press release from the Kohima Police PRO.
As per the release, the police personnel, while conducting routine checking of vehicles, intercepted one Hyundai I20 bearing registration No AS-05L-2800 which was proceeding towards Dimapur from Senapati. Approximately 360 gms of suspected heroin, neatly packed in 30 soap cases, were detected in the vehicle, it said.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as S Livingpeace (42), resident of Senapati, Manipur was arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle were seized. During preliminary investigation, the total value of the illegal contraband is found to be worth approximately Rs 50 lakh in the national market, it informed.
