DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The District and Session Court, Phek convicted one Zakir Hussian, a mason by profession on the charge of sexual harassment of a minor girl in Pfutsero in 2017 and sentenced him to one year rigorous imprisonment.
The case pertains to a complaint filed at Pfutsero Police Station on April 15, 2017 by the victim’s father alleging that the accused came to his house and physically molested his daughter and also raped her on earlier occasions.
Based on this complaint, the OC Pfutsero had registered a case and the accused was charge sheeted by the Investigating Officer.
The Court took cognizance of the case and the accused was charged under section 376 and 354(I) (i) of the Indian Penal Code and Sec-4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO Act).
At the pronouncement of the judgment, Session Judge Mezivolu T Therieh convicted the accused for sexual harassment but acquitted him on the charge of rape on not finding enough evidence.
