An employee of the Department of Power, Nagaland died after being electrocuted while on a repair assignment in Dimapur on August 21. A department official informed the tragic incident occurred at Supply colony around noon. Stating it was an accident, the official said that the deceased, a field worker, was welding an electric pole, which was rusting and on the verge of giving way. He was said to have almost completed the job when he lost his footing on a rain-drenched ground. In the process, his bare hand reportedly came into contact with the pole. He was fatally electrocuted and rushed to hospital where he was declared dead, the official said.
The deceased, aged around 40 years, was identified as Rakesh. The official added that a police report was filed as required by law.
